Do You Know About BAMcinematek?

2012_Visit_RoseCinemas_main_613x463Located in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York,  the Brooklyn Academy of Music is more than just an 150 year old building near the new Barclays Center. A multi-arts center that houses theater, dance, music, opera, and film, BAM has served as the boroughs hub for emerging artists as well as seasoned veterans.

Many Brooklynites travel more than an hour to Manhattan to see a movie in Times Square, bypassing the films shown every day in their own backyard. Not only does BAM feature a multiplex, the center runs a year round repertory film program. Named BAMcinematek, the 14-year-old program presents classic films, premieres, festivals and retrospectives with filmmakers, actors, and critics bringing favorite film industry stars to the borough.

The rest of this years BAMcinematek features a Saturday morning matinée series for kids, a festival that merges the film and the art world, the two-day showing of the film Stalker, and a late night block of animation films.

With years of exclusive, impressive films and festivals, 2014’s BAMcinematek is sure to be just as promising as years prior.

Student discounts at $9, Monday through Thursday, coupled with a shorter travel time for Brooklyn residents, make BAM a smarter choice.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music is comprised of three buildings all located steps from Atlantic Terminal/Barclays Center. BAM Rose Cinemas is located in the Peter Jay Sharpe Building on 30 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn. Films and showtimes can be found by going to
