Lhota Says He Believes Upset is Possible

electionWhile the polls have shown that Bill de Blasio is the next likely mayor, Joe Lhota has not given up hope. Meeting commuters at a ferry terminal in Manhattan, Lhota told the crowd that “A lot of people come up to me and say, `I’m a Democrat, but I’m voting for you, Joe.'”

Standing with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, he said he believes that de Blasio is too far left for the average Democratic voter.

Giuliani also touched on the controversy over a campaign event where Harry Belafonte compared the Koch brothers, who backed Lhota’s run for mayor, to the KKK. Giuliani called that comparison “racist.”

The candidates pulled no punches and their campaigns hit hard on the last days of the race for mayor. Stay tuned for live election coverage.
