“Wheel of Death” artist sustains injuries in Las Vegas during performance

On November 1st at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, a performer fell off the ironically named “Wheel of Death” during a performance of Cirque du Soleil “Zarkana”.

Cirque du Soleil, the self-described “dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment” is known for its complex acrobatics and spectacular tricks. It is also no stranger to performers suffering injuries or even death. The Las Vegas Sun reports that on June 29 of this year, 31-year-old performer named Sarah Guillot-Guyard died after falling over 90 feet during a performance. 

The injured performer, identified by sources through the Sun as Junior Delgado. According to sources close to the performer, Delgado has performed the “Wheel of Death” act since the run began in November 2012, as well as during the run of “Zarkana” at Radio City Music Hall. He is reported to be in stable condition at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and expecting release in several days.
