Fun Fall Food Festivals

Tired of eating at the same places day in and day out? Here’s a list of incredible food events and festivals happing this month that’ll have great food without breaking the bank.

Chile Pepper Festival

One of the hottest events this month, the Chile Pepper Festival will be sure to knock your socks off with the unique foods like spicy pickles or hot pepper caramel poppers. And while you munch on those, be sure to check on the on-site fire juggling. The festival will be held on October 5, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (990 Washington Ave., at Montgomery St., Brooklyn). The cost is $20 for adults, $15 for students (with school ID) & seniors; it’s free for kids under 12

Apple Festival

Here’s a family event that will be too sweet to miss. The Queens County Farm Museum (73-50 Little Neck Pkwy., at 74th Ave., Queens.) will be holding their annual Apple Festival on October 7th. From 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., enjoy fresh apple pie, donuts, warm cider and fun hayrides.

Heirloom Garlic-Tasting Festival

The Heirloom Garlic-Tasting Festival at the Hoboken Historical Museum will bring you garlic in every shape and variety, from dips to vinegar. Though this fragrant festival might not be the best date-night option, bringing a friend will make the inevitable bad breathe a non-issue…or at least not a big one. Come out on October 13 from 1-5 p.m. at 1301 Hudson St. on 13th St.

Mad. Sq. Eats

From UrbanSpace and the Madison Square Park Conservancy, this is a semi-annual pop-up market. With some of New York City’s most popular restaurants like Slide and Delaney Barbecue participating to showcase local ingredients, the market is open daily from 11am-9pm thru October 25th.

Happy eating!
