Alan Cumming Interviewed By Colbert on One-Man Macbeth

On Wednesday night, Cumming sat with Stephen Colbert to discuss his new show on Broadway, a one-man reproduction of Shakespeare’s Macbeth (or “The Scottish Play,” if preferred) that takes place in a psychiatric ward.

During the interview Cumming spoke of the psychological ramifications surrounding the play, “He’s [Shakespeare’s] got a lot to say about psychology, I think. He actually predates modern psychology, Jung and Freud, by a couple hundred years.”

During the interview Cumming also promoted “The Head That Wears The Crown,” a 22-track audio book recreating Shakespeare’s most famous speeches across all of his works all recited by Cumming himself.

Macbeth premieres on stage tomorrow night at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre and will run until June 30th.
