Women Participate in Sports Bra Challenge

Women took their shirts off, twisted it round their heads and spun it like a helicopter (reference: Petey Pablo’s Raise Up) and participated in the Sports Bra Challenge on Sunday as a way to promote positive body image and self confidence.

“The Sports Bra Challenge is a movement, a day for women to empower one another to feel comfortable with their bodies- exactly as they are, and to overcome insecurities by working out within a supportive community in their sports bras,” said SEAK founder Jenny Gaither.

The SEAK foundation hosted its annual one day outdoor event in Union Square Park that drew a crowd of hundreds of participants and spectators alike. Women dressed in sports bras and bottoms pedaled vigorously on SoulCycle stationary bicycles and felt the burn as spin instructors Stacey Griffith and Melanie Griffith led the way.

The charity event raised more than $200,000 for charities City of Hope’s Positive Image Center and the SEAK foundation, both promoting self-esteem among women and children.
