Authors and publishers objects to Amazon’s “.book” and “.read” names

Amazon and Google are set to control the new website addresses that will be ending with “.book” The Authors Guild and the Association of American Publishers are worried that Amazon and Google will use new internet names to gain more power in the publishing industry. Can you imagine those two internet sources using additional  resources to gain power in the publishing industry?

Both Amazon and Google have paid to obtain the right to run hundreds of new names though it’s still unclear what the companies intend to do with them,” one report said.

Google and Amazon don’t even know what to do with the names that they bought. I feel that Amazon and Google are being greedy.

Barnes & Noble objects that Google and Amazon will hurt the publishing industry. The Wall Street Journal reported that the industry groups fear that the latest move will threaten competition.
