The lowest ridership in six years

Fewer New Yorkers use the city’s subways and buses. The ridership declined for the first time since 2003 and it is true for all five boroughs. Authorities say the decline is a result of the economic situation in the city. Fewer riders means less money for MTA, which is looking for ways to cover the $400 million budget gap.
