E.coli Alert: Beef Recall After Two People Died

On Saturday, there was a major recall of beef due to E.coli contaminations – more than 270 tons of beef to be exact. Two people, one from New York and one from New Hampshire, have died after eating ground beef that may be connected to E.coli.

The company in question, Fairbank Farms, issued a recall for 545, 699 pounds of ground beef products. These products had already been shipped to stores in eight states, including health craze store Trader Joe’s.  The packaged beef patties were made from Sept. 14 to Sept. 16 and were sent to places mostly in the Northeast.

An executive director of a food safety organization said that the problem is contamination issues are brought up after a person gets sick. There was also a recall on Oct. 26 in Massachusetts, thus proving that the nation’s inspection system needs improvement.
