Dreams Come True for Some City Youth

Dreams come true for thousands of New York City kids in crisis. The Garden of Dreams Foundation is a non-profit organization in partnership with the New York Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Media, MSG Entertainment, and Fuse. The foundation has created life time experiences at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Hall, the MSG training center, Fuse, and the Beacon Theatre for more than 120,000 children in crisis in the tri-state area.  “We don’t cure illnesses and we can’t keep a family from being homeless, but what we try to do everyday is bring a little joy into their lives and hopefully keep away the burden of the crisis they are going through for a short time anyway” Kristine Burton, the vice president of Community Relations for Madison Square Gardens stated.

The Garden of Dreams team reaches out to  local children hospitals, foster care and homeless organizations to bring joy and overshadow the problems the youth are facing whether it be illness, tragedy, homelessness, poverty, or foster care issues. Often children receive a surprise visit from a popular player to cheer them up.  Recently Knicks player, Wilson Chandler joined in on the celebration of the newly refurbished visiting center at Harlem Dowling Westside-Center for Children and Family services, a project done under the Garden of Dreams team.

The Garden of Dreams hopes to continue putting smiles on the faces of New York City’s youth by continuing to make a difference in their lives.
